Lt. Col. Edward Lee “Ollie” Oliver, 66, husband of June Von Glahn Oliver, of Summerville, SC, died Friday, August 27, 2010.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, August 30, 2010 at the Summerall Chapel at the Citadel at 3 o’clock. Burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, Attn: Donor Services, 7020 AC Skinner Parkway, Suite 100, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
Ollie Oliver was born June 20, 1944 in Chicago, IL, the son of the late Edward E. Oliver, Jr. and Antoinette Gall Oliver. He received his Bachelor’s degree from the Citadel and his Master’s degree from Clemson. He was a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam. His military honors included the Legion of Merit decoration, Bronze Star Medals, and the Purple Heart. Lt. Col. Oliver was a member of Life Church in Mt. Pleasant, SC.
Survivors include his wife, June Oliver of Summerville, SC; two sons, Jon Oliver and wife Catherine of Summerville, SC, and David Oliver and wife Katheryn of Tampa, FL; one daughter, Katherine Pargas and husband Jonathan of Summerville, SC; one sister Sandy Oliver Berkow of Atlanta, GA; seven grandchildren, Rhiannon Oliver, Zachery Oliver, Katie Oliver, Christian Oliver, Jordan Oliver, Austin Oliver, and Isabelle Pargas.
