Friday, August 13, 2010 marked the passing of Alexander Charles Rosché, 18, of Summerville, SC. He is survived by his devoted family, father and mother Phil and Debbie Rosché and brother Travis. Additionally, his paternal grandfather Mel Rosché, Williamsburg, VA; maternal grandmother Kathleen Pickering, Williamsburg, VA; aunts and uncles Jan and Darryl Aspey, Charlotte, NC; Julie and Steve Martin, Williamsburg, VA; Nancy Newman, Williamsburg, VA; Paul Newman, Christiansburg, VA; cousins Kristen and Lauren Aspey and Christopher and Zac Newman; and special friends DJ Edwards and Victoria Ball.

Born in Summerville, SC on September 5, 1991, Alex attended Rollings Middle School of the Arts and was a 2010 graduate of Summerville High School.  He was the recipient of the Berlin G. Myers Scholarship and was currently attending Charleston Southern University. Having been born with Spina Bifida and Cerebral Palsy, his life was fraught with adversity, challenges and health issues. For him, virtually any activity was either impossible or extremely complicated. Despite this, he was involved in many activities including Boy Scouts, Chess Club and Leadership and he was a Peer Mediator.

In the eyes of anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him, he was extraordinary, living each day with a positive attitude and joyful spirit. One of his greatest loves was traveling. He recently returned from a tour of civil war sites. Memorable trips to Munich and London, swimming with dolphins, and snow-skiing in Breckinridge will be cherished forever.

A celebration of Alex's life was held on Tuesday, August 17 at 1:00 pm at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Summerville, with a gathering of family and friends immediately following in the Atrium. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Alex's name to the Berlin G. Myers Scholarship Fund, Summerville Mayor’s Committee, PO Box 231, Summerville, SC 29484-0231.

Arrangements by Parks Funeral Home, 130 West 1st North Street, Summerville, SC 29483.
