Norma Lucille Goshorn Stimson of Summerville, SC was called home to Glory on Thursday, January 28, 2010. She was born in Cane, Illinois, was the daughter of late Evelyn and William Doran Goshorn and celebrated 87 years of life before embarking into eternity with Christ. Norma was predeceased by her loving husband Claude C. “Buddy” Stimson of whom she was married to for 63 totalyears, by their infant daughter Jayme Lynn, and by her brother William Lewis Goshorn.
Norma was a long time resident of Summerville and is survived by three children Connie (Bob) Stevens, Bonnie (Randy) Olsen, and Jerry (Linda) Stimson all of Summerville, seven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Norma was a kind and modest woman, gentle in both her words and deeds, and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She took great delight in her family and in her home….waxing hardwood floors by hand, knitting sweaters for her daughters, making dresses for her granddaughter and even ironing pillowcases with starch. She loved to cook and especially for large gatherings at her and Buddy’s lake house in Bonneau, SC. She poured her love for cooking into notable recipes such as cheese cake, fruit cake, fudge and oatmeal cookies. Norma enjoyed flowers and watching birds… she could name them all specifically but especially loved cardinals, chickadees and the little titmouse. Norma was at home and was surrounded by her children at the time of her passing. The family wishes to thank all extended family, life long and close friends, Bethany Methodist Church, and the numerous people involved in prayer chains for their support and prayer during this time of tremendous grief.
Parks Funeral Home will host a visitation service for family and friends on Sunday, January 31, 2010, from 6pm-8pm at 130 West 1st North Street, Summerville.
