After a courageous struggle with pancreatic cancer, David Stephen Canavera, 64, of Summerville, SC, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2008. Dave’s memory will be cherished by his survivors: his wife of 39 years, Nancy Barbara Canavera; his sons Gregory Michael Canavera of Cambridge, MA, and Mark Christopher Canavera of Man, Cote d’Ivoire, West Africa; his daughter, Kristin Elizabeth Canavera of Blacksburg, VA; and his sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Michael Mileski of Negaunee, MI.
Dave was born to John Joseph and Ann Molinare Canavera in Norway, MI, on September 4, 1943. He received his B.S. in Forest Management at Michigan Technological University in 1965 and completed a Ph.D. in Forest Tree Improvement in 1969 at Michigan State University, where he met Nancy.

He was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving in World War II. He was past member of the Dennysville VFW. He retired from Bangor Publishing Company after 30 years.
