Foxes roll by Colleton County in region

The Ashley Ridge boys basketball team finished the first half of region play strong, handing Colleton County a 68-52 loss Tuesday in Walterboro.

The win is the Swamp Foxes’ first in region play and keeps them in the hunt for a playoff spot with Colleton still searching for its first region win.

Three Ashley Ridge players posted double-digit scoring in the game. Romelo Doctor had a game-high 30 points while Lorenzo Baker contributed 14 and Fred Weeks 12. Frankell Williams led the Cougars with 16.

Ashley Ridge improved to 4-12 on the season with a 1-3 mark in region play and will enter the second half of region action Jan. 27 in Beaufort. The Swamp Fox rematch with Summerville will be Jan. 31 at home.

The Ashley Ridge girls dropped their game to Colleton County by a 64-44 margin. Led by Thea Campbell’s game-high 18 points, the Lady Cougars had four players post double digit scoring. Jasmine Clark led Ashley Ridge with 15 points and Michala Green and Shelby Daly both added 10.

The Lady Swamp Foxes fell to 10-8 on the season with a 2-2 mark in region play. Colleton completed a clean sweep of the Region 8-AAAA opponents with the win and is 15-4 overall.
