The Ashley Ridge, Summerville and Fort Dorchester wrestling teams all notched region wins this week.
On Monday, the Swamp Foxes earned a 69-9 victory over Colleton County. Ashley Ridge won six bouts by pin fall en route to winning 11 out of 14 weight classes. Eduardo Blanco (132-pound class), Christian Cuttino (136), Trevor Huggins, Coltyn Remeika (160), Zach Armstrong (170), and Xavier Sierra (182) all earned pins for the Swamp Foxes. Ben Whitney (103), Demitre McNeal (113), Rickey Jamison (120), Chris Hudgens (152) and Brandon Smith (195) also won their bout.
On Wednesday, Ashley Ridge fell 45-26 to Beaufort, the No. 10 ranked Class AAAA team in the state. The Swamp Foxes won five bouts, including four by pin fall.
The Ashley Ridge highlights of the match came in consecutive weight classes as McNeal (113), Blanco (126), Cuttino (132) and Huggins (138) all pinned their Beaufort opponent. Armstrong (170) earned an 11-5 decision in his bout.
Summerville earned a 60-21 victory over West Ashley Monday and a 69-10 victory over Colleton County Wednesday.
Against the Wildcats, Summerville won 10 weight classes. Notching pins for the Green Wave were James Sass (106), Jordan Wigger (120), Keith Clark (126), Gavin Perkins (132), Chad Wood (138), Jamal Lucas (145), Daniel Smith (152), Kyle Sullivan (170) and Oliver Galante (182). Cooper Knowles (113) also won his bout.
Summerville won 12 bouts against Colleton. Earning pins were Wigger, Clark, Wood, Smith and Sullivan. Other Summerville grapplers nothing a win in the match were Sass, Perkins, Lucas, Will Cranford (162), Galante, Hershell Sharp (197) and Robert Larson (285).
Fort Dorchester earned a 38-20 win over Beaufort Monday and a 65-12 win over James Island Wednesday.
Against the Eagles, the Patriots won eight bouts. Javan Jordan (113), Dallis Brown (126), Charles Washington (138) and Cody Williams (145) won by pin fall while Trevour Johnson (120) and Daqon Buksha (132) earned a major decision. Alex Bugarin (170) and Myles Moultrie (285) won decisions in their bout.
Against James Island, the Patriots won 12 bouts. Winning with a pin were Tyre Wright (106), Jordan, Johnson, Daquon Wilson (160), Bugarin, Kevyne Flores (195), Delton Wells (220) and Moultrie. Daitwan Commodore (182) and Buksha both earned a major decision for the Fort.
