Charleston Twisters boys gymastics team members Chase Parmley, Justin Dandridge, Andrew Munz, Austin Benton, Ben Rindge, Daniel Morgan, Ian Neuhas and Joshua Smith had a solid outing at state meet.
Twisters earn medals, qualify for regionals
Members of the Charleston Twisters recently brought home several medals from the South Carolina Men's State Gymnastics Competition in Rock Hill.
In addition, based on their performances at that meet, team members Ian Neuhaus (Summerville), Ben Rindge (West Ashley) and Joshua Smith (Summerville) qualified to represent South Carolina on the state team at the Men's Region 8 Championships in Huntsville, Ala. Also, based on their scores, Daniel Morgan (Summerville) and Austin Benton (Goose Creek) qualified to compete as individuals.
The boys are coached by Tony Ivey at Davita’s Funtastic Gymnastics in Ladson.
State meet results:
Level 10, age 16-18: Neuhaus 1st all-around and all six events.
Level 7, age 12 and older: Morgan, first on parallel bars, third on rings and vault, fourth on floor, pommel horse, high bar and all-around.
Level 7, age 10-11: Rindge, third in the all-around and all events except parallel bars, where he was second.
Level 6, age 12 and older: Smith, second on vault and rings, third on pommel and parallel bars, fourth on high bar, fifth on floor, third all-around.
Level 6, age 10-11: Benton, second on high bar, fourth on vault, fifth on floor, seventh on pommel, eighth on parallel bars and rings, seventh all-around.
Level 4 Novice, age 8-9: Justin Dandridge, first on rings, second on vault, third on floor and parallel bars, fourth on pommel and high bar and first all-around.
Open, Age 8-9: Andrew Munz, sixth on high bar, ninth on floor and rings, 10th on pommel, 11th on vault and eighth all-around.
Open Age 8-9: Chase Parmley, third on parallel bars, eighth on rings and vault, 10th on floor, 11th on pommel and high bar and 10th all-around.
