The Charleston Battery recently released its 2010 USL2 schedule. The soccer team will play a 20-game regular season April 17 through August 14. Charleston’s home opener is versus the Pittsburgh Riverhounds on Saturday, April 24 and marks the return to Blackbaud Stadium of former Battery midfielder Justin Evans, who recently took over as head coach of Pittsburgh. The top three teams advance to the postseason with the regular season champion playing host to the league championship. The second and third seeds will meet the weekend of Aug. 21 to determine the other finalist for the championship game the following weekend (August 28). In addition to the Carolina Challenge Cup and the USL2 regular season, the Battery will also enter the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. All Charleston Battery away matches will be broadcast live locally with a web simulcast via the Kirkman Broadcasting Network. Season Ticket Packages Season tickets are on sale now with packages starting at only $150. New this year all season ticket packages include tickets to the Carolina Challenge Cup featuring Major League Soccer. Carolina Challenge Cup The Charleston Battery kicks off 2010 with a pre-season tournament featuring MLS champions Real Salt Lake March 13 – 20 at Blackbaud Stadium. DC United and Toronto FC also make return visits to the round-robin tournament. All three MLS teams will spend the week in Charleston training between the games as they prepare for the start of the Major League Soccer season.
