The competitive gymnastics team for Choice Gymnastics traveled to Irmo Jan. 6 to compete at the Lake Murray Invitational.
In the Level 2 competition, Isabella Budinko rocked the beam event to earn 9.300 score. Makayla Lorenz scored a 9.500 on vault and 9.000 on bars to tie for second place on both events. Caycee Mock earned a 9.000 on vault and 9.200 on beam. Leiganna Sawer did a great beam routine to score 9.400 and Sydney Williams scored a 9.000 on bars.
In the Level 3 competition, Selin Carpenter placed third on beam with a 9.200. Jurnee Fair received a 9.400 on bars and 9.300 on beam for second place in both events. Arianna Naputi got a 9.100 on bars. Rachel Wassung scored 9.00 on vault and bars and Kennedy Yonce earned a 9.200 on bars and 9.000 on beam. Every Level 3 gymnasts had a personal best in the all around competition.
In the Level 4 competition, Emma Biron received second place on beam, floor and all around. Meg Davy earned a 9.150 for third place on floor. Lena Hall took home second place on bars and first place on beam, floor and all around with a personal best of 35.550. Emily Hunter took third on vault. Kiersten Hynek received a 9.075 on vault. Randi Swenson got a 9.050 on bars and Olivia Thompson earned a 9.050 on vault. The team finished in sixth place with a 106.425 score.
Level 5 competitor Paige Fetchen brought home first place on bars and floor and second in the all around.
In the level 7 competition, Malorie Joyner earned a 9.100 on floor. Marina Krug scored 9.000 and above in all events to place third on vault, second on bars, third on beam and first in the all around with a 36.500. Caroline McWhorter took home the gold on floor and Emma Shuler rocked a 9.050 on vault and 9.250 on floor to tie for second. The team finished in second place with a 105.275 score.
Excel Bronze competitors did well also. Hailey McGinnis scored 9.175 on beam and 9.025 on floor for second place. Caroline Moore earned 9.350 on beam for first place. Jordan Stokes vaulted to second place with a 9.275. The team placed sixth with a score of 107.000.
In Excel Silver competition, Rachelle Abell scored 9.300 for first place on beam and 35.975 in the all around for second. Madison Haas scored 9.325 on bras for first place and 9.250 on beam for second. Serena Spoerl got a 9.150 on bars for second. Abigail Todd placed third on Vault with 9.200 and received 9.225 on bars and 9.075 on beam for third place and was second on floor and in the all around. The team scored 109.225 to place fourth.
In the Excel Gold division, Claire Brookbank received third place for her 9.325 bar routine and Amy Willems earned second place for her 9.450 floor routine. The Gold team placed fourth with a score of 103.850.
These young ladies train at Choice Gymnastics in Summerville. Level 2-3 are coached by Shannon Driggers. Excel Bronze and Silver teams are coached by Jenn Santmyer. Level 4, 5 and 7 Gold team members are coached by Cliff and Deb Wilson.
