Grapplers advance to Lower State qualifier

Summerville’s Kyle Sullivan (left) and Fort Dorchester’s Michael Schuster are among the local wrestlers who have advanced to the Lower State qualifying match. Sullivan qualified in the 170-pound weight class and Schuster in the 182-pound class.

Several Dorchester Two wrestlers have advanced to the Lower State qualifying match.

Eight local grapplers placed first in their weight class during the Region 8-AAAA individual tournament held in Beaufort last week to claim all-region honors. Several more placed either second or third for their class to also advance to the Lower State qualifying match.

Summerville wrestlers James Sass (106-pound class), Jordan Wigger (120), Gavin Perkins (132) and Chad Wood (138) won their class. Also advancing for Summerville were Cooper Knowles (113), Keith Clark (126), Jamal Lucas (145), Will Cranford (160), Kyle Sullivan (170) and Hershell Sharp (195).

Fort Dorchester wrestlers Javon Jordan (113) and Myles Moultrie (285) won their class. Also advancing for Fort Dorchester were Tyree Wright (106), Trevon Johnson (120), Daquan Buksha (132), Cody Williams (138), Austin Ziliak (145), DaQuan Wilson (152), Joseph Hutchinson (160), Michael Schuster (182) and Delton Wells (220).

Ashley Ridge wrestlers Zack Armstrong (152) and Xavier Sierra (170) won their class. Also advancing for Ashley Ridge were Ricky Jamieson (120), Eduardo Blanco (126), Christian Cuttiono (132), Terrell Robinson (138), Joseph Pringle (182), Brandon Smith (195) and Desmond Glover (285).
