Green Wave boys’ coach Greg Elliott would like to see his team finish stronger, but Summerville improved to 5-1 with a 77-62 win Friday over Military Magnet.
“We played very well 24 of the 32 minutes,” Elliott said. “We shot 57 percent from the field and defended well. We were up 23 at half and 27 with 2:45 in the third period, but then we got very tired and careless with the ball.”
By the five-minute mark of the final period Magnet had cut the lead to 11. Then the Wave surged back to take the score to 70-50 and held on for the win.
Magnet dropped to 4-7 on the season with the loss.
John Jenkins led the Wave shooters, finishing with 24 points. Brandon Wilkerson added 21 points and Christian Kalacanic finished with 14. Also scoring for Summerville were Chris McKinnon (6), Tyler Palmer (5), Isaiah Kinloch (5,) and Xavier Robinson (2).
