Lady Swamp Fox swimmer earns state championship

Micah Bohon, shown here helping the Ashley Ridge Girls 200 Medley Relay Team to a win in September, earned a lot of points for the Swamp Foxes during last weekend’s state championship swim meet.

Local athletes turned in Top 10 performances Oct. 6 during the 2012 South Carolina High School League Class AAAA Swimming Championships in Columbia.
Ashley Ridge swimmer Micah Bohon won the Girls 100-yard Backstroke with a 56.80 time that was just off the meet record of 56.68 set in 2011. Her 2:06.64 time in the 200 I.M. earned her second place.
She also helped a pair of Lady Swamp Fox relay teams to a Top 10 performance. Bohon teamed up with Sydney Lessard, Graci Hill and Alex Seale in the 200 Free Relay for a 1:45.32 finish as the team claimed sixth place. The same four swimmers earned an eighth-place finish in the 200 Medley Relay with a 1:57.09 time.
Jeremiah Bohon earned a sixth-place finish in the Boys 100 Breaststroke with a 1:01.64 time and a ninth-place finish in the 200 I.M. with a 2:00.26 time.
Summerville’s Carson Davis also had a strong performance. He placed eighth in the Boys 100 Freestyle with a 49.35 time and 10th in the 50 Freestyle with a 22.61 time.
Wando took home the boys’ state championship trophy with a 310-point performance and the Wando girls won their meet with a 330-point performance.
The Ashley Ridge boys placed 18th while the Summerville boys placed 20th and the Fort Dorchester boys placed 26th. The Ashley Ridge girls placed 13th and the Fort Dorchester girls placed 20th.
