Senior Steve Chase (l) is one of several Pinewood basketball players who recently received post-season honors.

The five-time defending SCISA AAA champion Pinewood Prep Panthers’ basketball team landed several players on All-star teams.

Bruce Haynes and Steve Chase were selected to play in the South Carolina verses Georgia game, while Brett Alexander and Jerome Deas both played in the SCISA North/South All-star game.

Haynes and Deas were also both selected to the SCISA All-tournament team for their performances during the four rounds of the state tournament. In addition, Haynes was selected as the Player of the Year in SCISA Region 3-AAA while Chase and Deas made the All-Region team.

The Lady Panthers also had representation. Seniors Jasmine Simmons and Monet Scott were selected to play in the SCISA vs. GISA All Star Game.

In other Pinewood news, the Panther varsity golf season, on March 4, traveled to Cassique to open its season against Porter Gaud. In a tight match, the Panthers fell to the Cyclones by a score of 154-158. Ryan Cavanaugh led the Panthers with a 2 over 38.  Lushen Evans added a 39, Austin Cody a 40 and Richard Hubbard and Reona Hirai both shot 41. Dane Derbyshire was the match medalist with a 1 over 39.
