With the high school spring sports season in full swing, teams were scattered all over last week.
Ashley Ridge had luck on the diamond Thursday, but not on the soccer field Friday.
The Swamp Fox baseball team defeated Timberland 14-4 at home.
Anthony Kolkaglis got the win on the mound to improve his pitching record to 1-1 on the year. Alex Christmas led the way at the plate with four hits and six RBIs. The Swamp Foxes improved to 3-4.
Both Ashley Ridge soccer teams dropped games Friday.
An injury plagued girls team fell 5-0 at home to Ashley Hall. Collen Leung had four goals for Ashley Hall in the game.
The Lady Swamp Foxes’ record dropped to 1-5-1 and 1-1 in the regular season, with the loss.
The Ashley Ridge boys fell 7-1 to West Ashley on the road. Sophomore Ethan Baker scored the Swamp Fox goal. West Ashley improved to 1-1-1 while Ashley Ridge fell to 3-2.
On Thursday, the Ridge boys earned an 8-1 victory over Burke on the road.
Freshman Nick Kennedy scored three goals and Tyler Haney had two. Also scoring for the Swamp Foxes were Scott Jones, Cameron Picone, and Baker.
Summerville picked up wins on both the baseball and softball diamonds last week.
The Green Wave baseball team defeated Goose Creek 11-6 on the road Friday. Jacob Webb got the win and improved his pitching record to 2-1. Tyler Fletcher hit a three-run homerun in the game for the Wave and Hoot Gibson and Grant Williamson both had a 2-run homer.
It was the regular season opener for the Wave, which improved to 4-2 on the year including the Sertoma Preseason tournament.
The Wave softball team improved to 6-2 on the year with a 4-3 victory over Goose Creek at home.
Malori Myers took the mound and improved her pitching record to 5-2. Ashley Muckelvaney was 3-for-4 at bat.
Tricia Sizemore was 2-for-3 with two triples, including one that drove in the game-winning run.
Fort Dorchester picked up a pair of wins March 10.
The Patriot boys’ soccer team defeated Porter-Gaud 7-0 in its home and season opener.
Devin L’Amoreaux scored three goals and Justin Keys scored two. Adding a goal each were Randall Eads and Chris Cyr. Jerry Jacobs received the shutout in goal.
The Fort boys’ tennis team defeated Ashley Ridge 7-0 in its season opener.
Earning wins in singles play were Connor Clayton, Spencer Wiesnet, Joseph Harwood, Jacob Lilley and Justin Harwood. The Fort won one doubles match and received a forfeit in the other.
