Oldtimer Football Game Registration for Goose Creek High School’s Third Annual Old Timer Football Game is planned for Feb. 4 from 5:30 to 7:30 at the Goose Creek High School L.A. Cafeteria. Registration is $30 with cash, or check made payable to Goose Creek High School Booster Club. A waiver must be signed at the time of registration to be eligible to practice or play. The Oldtimer’s Game will be played on March 20 and benefits MUSC Children’s Hospital. PTSA tournament The Summerville High School PTSA Green Wave Open golf tournament is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Feb. 20 at Miler Country Club. Entry fee is $50 per person and includes a donation to the SHS PTSA, 18 holes of Captain’s Choice golf, cart, contests and a cookout to follow play. Sponsorship opportunities are available for the tournament, which helps provide student scholarships, teacher mini-grants and other items to the school. YMCA Cup The Summerville Family YMCA will host the 2010 YMCA Cup at The Ponds Jan. 30. The co-ed, 6v6 soccer tournament is designed to provide a recreational experience that is perfect for first-time tournament participants. It will also serve as a warm-up event for the Spring soccer season. There will be U8, U10 and U12 divisions. Details on registering a team of 10 can be obtained at any of the three Summerville Y branches. Athlete nominations Nominations are now being accepted for the Dorchester School District Two Athletic Hall of Fame. Nomination forms for Summerville High School and Alston High School can be picked up and turned in at the Summerville High School front office. The nomination deadline is March 1. Shank and shuck Registration is open for Miler Country Club’s annual Powerball Golf tournament, scheduled for Superbowl Sunday. Tee off is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Feb. 7 and an oyster/hot dog roast with cash bar will follow play. Four types of entry classifications are available. For a registration fee of $40, players receive 18 holes of golf, cart, oysters and draft beer. Discounts are available for players not wanting a cart and for players age 12 or younger. Red Sox wanted The Charleston Baseball Academy Red Sox team is looking for players age 8-10 for the upcoming spring baseball season.
