The Ashley Ridge baseball team opens play in the District VII championship series May 6.
It was a big week for both the Swamp Fox baseball and softball teams, which earned their first playoff victories Thursday.
Both teams have advanced to the championship series for their playoff district.
The Swamp Fox baseball team defeated Silver Bluff 8-4 in the opening round.
Austin Livingston picked up the win on the mound to improve his record to 7-1.
Billy Seigler led the Fox batters with three hits, including two doubles. Alex Christmas and Zach Patterson were both 2-for-3 at the plate.
On Saturday, Ashley Ridge traveled to face Hanahan, the state’s sixth ranked AA team. The Foxes fought the Hawks to a 4-all tie, but then Hanahan hit a two-run, walk-off homer for a 6-4 victory.
On Monday, the Foxes defeated Aynor 13-3 to earn a bid to the championship series that begins April 6 at Hanahan.
Ashley Ridge will need to beat the Hawks twice to advance.
Anthony Kolkaglis picked up the win on the mound against Aynor to improve his record to 4-3.
Patterson had three hits and five RBIs and Livingston had three hits and three RBIs. Ashley Ridge improved its season record to 15-11.
The Ashley Ridge softball team downed Pelion 7-2 Thursday.
Chelsea Guyton got the win on the mound. Aubrey Rabun led the Ashley Ridge batters, going 3-for-3. Kaitlyn Anderson was 2-for-4 at bat.
The Foxes defeated Hanahan Saturday to earn a bid to the Distirct VI championship series scheduled to start May 6 at Ashley Ridge.
The Foxes will face Hanahan, which will need two wins to advance.
