Dead on


Chris Myers made a hole in one at Miler Country Club April 10. Myers used a 6 iron to drive the ball 175 yards to ace Hole 4. The shot was witnessed by Rick Myers, Heather Myers and Gibson Myers.


Ace


Sandra Loy of Summerville made a hole in one at Miler Country Club April 11. Loy used an 11 wood to drive the ball 147 yards to ace Hole 8. The shot was witnessed by Jessie Finucan and Gail Cates.


Fun run


The second annual Laurel Hill Primary PTA Family Fun Run/Walk is gearing up for a day of running, health fairs, kids’ fun and partnership with the Special Olympics.  The one-mile fun run and walk will kick off on Saturday, May 10 at 9 a.m. in the Park West subdivision.Proceeds will be used to upgrade the school’s fitness trail, which is available to the public after school hours, to accommodate handicapped individuals and to fund the addition of interactive Smartboards to the classrooms. Registration for the run is  $15 until May 2. Summer soccer camp


Registration is now open for the 2008 DuBose Middle School soccer camp for youth age 5-12.  Camp dates are  June 23-27 and July 21-25. Camp will be held from 8:30-11:30 a.m.   The cost will be $65. For more information, contact Jason Rasner at 851-8553.


Kickball


WAKA Kickball® has exploded in Charleston over the last year and registration for its co-ed adult kickball divisions is now open for individuals, small groups and full teams at kickball.com. Spring golf


The Willis T. Goodwin Spring Golf Tournament to benifitt the Twin City Outreach Mission is scheduled for May 22 at Wescott Plantation. Sponsors as well as golfers are needed for the Captain's choice  tournament, which will include several skills contests. Entry fee is $240 per team. Superstars Camp


Registration is currently being accepted for the Superstars Basketball Camp to be held at Fort Dorchester High School June 9-13 and June 16-20. Camp for players age 9-14 will be conducteed from 9 a.m. until noon and camp for high school age players will be from 1-4 p.m. The registration fee is $75 for one week or $140 for two weeks and includes a T-shirt and basketball. FDHS coach Gregg Gierke (507-238 career record, 26 years of college basketball coaching experience) will direct the camp. Football camps


The Summerville Sertoma Club will sponsor three football camps for youth age 5-15 this Spring and Summer. Camps are scheduled from 6-8 p.m. April 21-24, June 2-5 and July 14-17 at the Gahagan Sports Complex football field in Summerville. Cost is $55 for those registering 15 days prior to each date and $65 for those registering within 15 days of a camp. Discounts are available for those registering for more than one camp and for Sertoma Club members. Youth can also register on the first day of each camp, however, registration is on a first come, first serve basis and limited to 50 campers per camp.


Senior softball


Lowcountry Senior Softball is currently seeking players age 50 or older who are interested in joining a spring (April-June) league. Games are played on Monday and Wednesday evenings at Cook Fields in North Charleston. Voluntary practices are held on Saturday mornings in West Ashley. Basketball camp


Registration is now open for Ten Star All-star Summer Basketball Camp programs to be held in 10 different states. The camp is by invitation only. Boys and Girls age 10-19 are eligible to apply. Past participants include:  Michael Jordan, Tim Duncan, Vince Carter, Jerry Stackhouse, Grant Hill and Antawn Jamison. Players from 50 States and 10 foreign countries attended the 2007 Camp. There is also a Summer camp available for boys and girls ages 6-18 of all skill levels. Summer roundball camp


Final registration is ongoing for the 30th annual Bryan Adrian Summer Basketball Camp. Boys and girls age 5-18 are eligible. Overnight camps are scheduled for July 20-24 at N.C. Wesleyan College and Mars Hill College. Day camps are scheduled from July 21-25 at St. Ann’S Catholic School in Charlotte, N.C. Officials needed


The South Carolina High School Football Association is looking for applicants who have an interest in officiating football in the Lowcountry. John  Peek, director of officials, said, "We have two new schools that will begin playing in 2008 and with a few retirements from our group this winter, we have a shortage of officials. We will begin training in May for our 2008 season and if you love the game of football, this is one way that you can participate and actually get paid a little to go to a game."
