Swamp Fox netters make playoffs

It’s been an historic year for the Swamp Fox volleyball team.
On Sept. 4 it became the first Ashley Ridge team to earn a varsity win when it downed Colleton County. On Monday, it will become the first Swamp Fox team to ever compete in a playoff game. The team of freshmen and sophomores earned a No. 3 seed for the playoffs by finishing 4-4 in Region 6-AA. They will travel to face Wade Hampton, Region 5-AA’s No. 2 seed, Monday in the opening round of the playoffs.

The Ashley Ridge Football team earned its second region win of the season Friday.
The team of freshmen and sophomores turned in an impressive performance to down Garrett Tech 32-6 and pick up its first win in its new stadium. Tonight, the Swamp Foxes (2-4, 2-0 in Region 6-AA) host a rematch with Cane Bay (0-6, 0-2), which the Ridge defeated 14-12 on the road Sept. 26.

The Woodland volleyball team remains in the No. 2 spot for Region 6-AA after knocking off Ashley Ridge Tuesday.
The Wolverines improved to 11-5 on the year with a 4-1 record in the region with a 14-25, 25-20, 25-16, 25-18 win over the Swamp Foxes. Bishop England (11-3, 3-0), which already has a win over Woodland, sits on top of the region standings. Ashley Ridge (4-7, 2-3) is in third place.

The Swamp Foxes held off a potent Cobra attack at Cane Bay High School to earn a 14-12 win in the first battle between the Lowcountry’s two newest high schools. The schools opened this fall with only freshmen and sophomores and both football teams entered the game looking for their first win.
