Summerville earned a 6-5 victory over Wando Jan. 20 in South Carolina Scholastic Hockey Association action.
Conner Rosenbaum had a hat trick and two assists for Summerville and the Green Wave defense outlasted an aggressive Wando team. Summerville goal tender Christopher Alden made 19 saves in the game, which is three more than the Warrior goalies combined for. Summerville got off 24 shots in the contest, compared to Wando’s 22.
The Wave received goals from Rosenbaum, Nick Wieszkowiak and Seth Wall in the opening period to take a 3-1 lead into the second. Wando cut the lead in half during the next period and then the teams were tit for tat for goals in the final period.
Wieszkowiak got things going in the third with his second goal of the game, which came with an assist by Wall. Wando answered with just more than 4:30 remaining in the game. Rosenbaum then scored at the 3:56 and 1:19 marks. His second goal was unassisted while Wieszkowiak and Richard Winter each had an assist on his third.
Wando needed less than a minute to answer his first goal of the period and just more than a minute to answer his third with the games final score, which came with only 15 seconds remaining.
Wieszkowiak finished with three assists and Wall finished with two. Colin Wonderlic led the Wando scorers with three goals and PJ Vinci had two assists for the Warriors.
Summerville improved its record to 4-4-1 with the win while Wando dropped to 5-3-1.
Patriot hockey
Later that night, Fort Dorchester (8-1-0) earned a 10-4 win over Columbia (5-4-0) to remain the only one-loss team in the league.
Julian Dipaolo led the way with a hat trick and two assists in the game while Chandler Murphy added two goals and two assists for the Pats. Grayson Durham, Justin LeBlanc, Jordan Murphy, Danny Rowland and Derek Shiver also had goals for the Fort. LeBlanc also finished with two assists while Todd Braga, Blake Thompson, Kyle Florich, Durham, Rowland and Shiver added one each.
Columbia took 21 shots, but Patriot goalie Dylan Belida made 17 saves. The Patriots took 38 shots in the game and the Columbia goalies combined for 28 saves.
