After Tuesday’s singles matches, the Panthers found themselves in a similar situation against Hilton Head Prep. Trailing, 4-2 again, the Panthers were looking for their second miracle, but it wasn’t to happen as the Dolphins won two of the three doubles matches to defeat the Panthers 6-3.

When Pinewood Preparatory School’s boys’ varsity soccer team took the field against Waccamaw High School in the first scrimmage of the 2008 season, no one was quite sure what to expect. The four-time defending state champion Panthers lost eight seniors to graduation last year, and although their starting defensive lineup and center midfield held familiar faces, several other key positions on the field contained young players who were new to the team.
More than halfway through the season, expectations are as high as ever. The Pinewood team has melded into a cohesive blend of new and established players who work seamlessly together. They tied that game against Waccamaw, a team with several recent runs at the state title in the AA public school category, and they have since defeated Wando High School (public AAAA contender) and Bishop England (defending public AA champion).
Pinewood softball continued on a roll, winning a double header against Dorchester Academy Thursday.
The Panthers prevailed 11-0 and 6-0. The two wins pushed the Panthers record to 13-1.

Milton Jennings remembers the days when he couldn't even hit a free throw. Today, the 6-9, 210-pound Pinewood Prep junior is the 2007-08 Gatorade South Carolina Boys' Basketball Player of the Year.
During an assembly at the Pinewood gym Wednesday, school officials made the announcement that Jennings had been selected as the recipient of the prestigious award and presented the junior with a commemoratory plaque and a banner that will hang in the school's gym. The Pinewood Prep girls’ varsity soccer team took jolly old England by storm last week.
The Lady Panthers scored 23 goals against three British U16 teams, including one team affiliated with the English Premier League, while allowing only two goals during Spring Break week. “This trip was a great opportunity for this squad, many of who are in their third year on Pinewood’s varsity soccer team and really growing into their roles,” Pinewood girls head coach Gail Osborne said. “It challenged them in some new ways and will help us as we build throughout the rest of our season. The girls had to prepare for a new game against completely unknown opponents and they really stepped up. I’m proud of the way they played consistently throughout the week, in less-than-ideal weather, and against some very physical opponents.”
