The Summerville boys’ tennis team recently completed a clean sweep of its region to extend an impressive streak. The Green Wave has won its last 29 Region 8-AAAA matches. The team improved its season record to 13-3 Tuesday with a 6-0 win over Ridge View and hosted Stratford in the second round Thursday, after press time.
Earning wins in singles play Tuesday for Summerville were Joey Holoubek (No. 1), Brian Mayeau (No. 2), Joel Roberts (No. 3), Luke Wesbury (No. 4) and Mason Taylor (No.5). The Wave pair of Roberts and Brice Weiner won the No. 2 doubles match.
Fort Dorchester earned a 4-2 win over Richaland Northeast Tuesday to advance to the second round of the boys’ playoffs for the first time. The Patriots (11-5) traveled to face West Florence Thursday.
Winning singles matches for the Patriots Tuesday were Gordon Wiesnet (No. 3), Ryan Daugherty (No. 4) and Spencer Wiesnet (No. 5). The No. 2 doubles team of Kishan Bhula and Jacob Lilley also won.
The Summerville soccer teams swept Fort Dorchester Tuesday to close regular-season play.
The Wave girls downed the Fort 5-2 at McKissick Field to improve to 16-4 on the year. The team has been perfect in region play for the last three seasons (30 games), having not lost a region contest since the 2005 season. Melissa Brady and Sarah Gilliam scored a pair of goals each and Katie Kreider scored the other Summerville goal.

The Summerville boys defeated the Patriots 1-0 Tuesday in a game decided on penalty kicks. Summerville senior Daniel Bowers put the game-winning kick into the net and Ronnie Murray got the shutout in goal.
The Wave improved to 13-3 with a 7-3 mark in the region and will likely earn the No. 2 seed for the playoffs. The Fort fell to 11-3, 6-3 and will likely earn either the third or fourth seed.
