The Charleston Battery has set dates for two player trials.
The first session is an open trial on Jan. 16 ñ 17. A second trial will be by selection only and will be held on Feb. 13 ñ 14. It will be the seventh year that the Battery has held player trials.
The Battery has consistently used its player trials as a source for new players. In recent years, the Battery has signed numerous players including ñ Aaron King, Mike Richardson, Louie Rolko, David Kenga and Dominic Cianciarulo.
Players attending the upcoming trials at Blackbaud Stadium will be assessed by Charleston Battery coaching staff, including Head Coach Mike Anhaeuser and Assistant Coach Mark Watson. In 2007, coaches from several other pro-soccer teams attended the Battery trials, including representatives from Major League Soccer and several USL First and Second Division teams.
Players interested in applying for the trials should complete the online registration available at www.charlestonbattery.com. All applicants will be able to register for the Open Trial (Jan 16-17). Selected applicants may be asked to attend the second trial if their experience/background meets the clubs criteria. All applicants will receive notification by e-mail of acceptance or denial. ?
The cost for each trial camp is $200 and includes all meals. Accommodations are not included, but are offered at the nearby Hampton Inn, Daniel Island at a discounted rate.
