Ferguson gets PE license
Tim Ferguson of GEL Engineering, LLC (GEL) has recently received his South Carolina Professional Engineer's license (P.E.).
Ferguson is a Project Manager within GEL Engineering's Civil Engineering group. He specializes in project management, design, and construction administration services involving stormwater management, construction management, wetland restoration, land development, and municipal engineering.
With offices in Charleston and Greenville, South Carolina, and Raleigh, North Carolina, GEL Engineering provides comprehensive engineering, environmental, and industrial services to local, state, and federal agencies, as well as manufacturers, property owners, developers, and a wide range of commercial clients. H&R Block opens office
In anticipation of the tax season, H&R Block has opened an newest office at 1605 Central Ave. Ste 7. They celebrated their grand opening Jan. 12.
"This new office will give our clients ready access to our tax professionals and the full array of tax services and products offered by H&R Block," said Ted Brooks, District Manager.
Those attending the grand opening had opportunity to talk with H&R Block professionals about tax law changes, tax planning and other financial issues.
Pancake flipping for charity
Children's Miracle Network joins forces with IHOP for National Pancake Day.
Summerville's IHOP Restaurant, located at 1217 N. Main St., will offer guests a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes in an effort to raise awareness and funds for Children's Miracle Network on National Pancake Day. With a nationwide IHOP goal to raise more than $750,000, funds will benefit children's hospitals throughout the U.S. Also known as Mardi Gras or Shrove Tuesday, Pancake Day has been celebrated for centuries in England, with a tradition and lore all its own.*
For every delicious short stack of pancakes served on National Pancake Day, IHOP guests are invited to make a donation to the Children's Miracle Network program at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Children's Hospital.
Credit Union to host career fair
South Carolina Federal Credit Union, named one of the state's Best Places to Work in 2007, will host its first annual career fair to attract fresh talent and engage future employees.
The career fair will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 29, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., at the Charleston Area Convention Center.
"The credit union's top asset is definitely its people," said Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Development Leslie Norris. "The career fair is an exciting chance for us to meet face-to-face with active or passive job seekers who want to grow with us."
