Career school cosmetology offers free services

The Dorchester County Career and Technology Center's cosmetology students are working together on a community outreach project aimed at using what they've learned to help their community.

Each Friday until the school breaks for Christmas vacation, both centers will open their doors to the public. Under the supervision of cosmetology instructors, DCCTC students will practice their newly learned skills on clients, providing inexpensive or free hair care and nail services.

Working with the community will enable students to prepare for the cosmetology exam, administered in the spring, while giving back to the Dorchester community.

Clients may make a $5 donation for services provided. Senior Citizens will not be charged for these services.

Appointments are required. To make an appointment at the 449 Trolley Road location, call 873-5049. Appointments at the 507 Schoolhouse Road location in Dorchester can be scheduled by calling 563-2810.
