Veteran Goose Creek City Council Member Joe Daning made it a perfect 12-for-12 last week, as he ran away with the special State House of Representatives District 92 election.

Daning easily outdistanced Berkeley County School Board Member Jimmy Hinson by nearly a 2-to-1 count, 1,046 votes (61 percent) to 532 votes (32 percent). Ellen Cook finished a distant third with 122 votes (7 percent).

In the election for Berkeley County School Board District 2 seat, Doug Cooper defeated Karen Smith by a 438 ñ 346 count.

Daning did not lose a precinct in cruising to the easy victory, but his win will be short lived as his term ends this year.

ìJoe Daning will have to file for the upcoming election between March 15 and 31,î said Berkeley County Elections Coordinator Wanda Farley. ì(Daning will) then run in the Republican primary in June. If he wins that, then heíll run in the general election in November.î

A total of 1,718 votes out of 19,100 registered voters were cast in the special election.

In the Berkeley County Board of Education race a total of 788 votes out of 6,302 registered voters were cast.
