Earl Eugene Mackey, 90, widower of Lily Mae Myers Mackey, of Summerville, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008 at his residence.

Funeral services were held Feb. 16, 2008 at Summerville Baptist Church. Burial was in Summerville Cemetery.

Mr. Mackey was born on Dec. 8, 1917 in Summerville, SC a son of Ernest Randall Mackey and Bertha Ellen Wiggins Mackey. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. He worked in the gas repair industry for 63 years, starting with Coastal Butane from 1945-1963, then Bailey from 1963-1972, and he was the owner of Gas Service from October 1972-1998. There was "nothing gas that Earl Mackey couldn't fix.î He was a member of Summerville Baptist Church.

Survivors include his daughter, Annie Morris and husband David of Goose Creek; two sons, Rickey Mackey and wife Tonia of Summerville and Randy Mackey and wife Connie of Orlando, Fla.; one brother, Milton Mackey of Summerville; one sister, Viola Singletary of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; six grandchildren, Chris Mackey, Apryl Morris, Candace Mackey, Samantha Mackey, Kathy Mackey and Kayla Mackey; one great grandson, Josh Mackey-Stanfield; one great granddaughter, Caroline Stanfield.
