The newly built amphitheatre will be broken in at The Ponds during a parade of homes.

Greenwood Development, the creators of the 1,950-acre The Ponds community, will host a first annual Ponds Lowcountry Living Tour: Parade of Homes in conjunction with the Charleston Trident Homebuilders Association.

The tour will be offered from April 12 ñ 27, six days a week at The Ponds, a 1,950-acre master-planned community set between the town of Summerville and the Ashley River Historic District in South Carolina. Participating builders include Alison Dailey Homes, David Weekley Homes, The J.D. Smith Company, John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods, and Palmetto Classic Homes.

The amphitheatre will host the first spring concert of the Summerville Community Orchestra during the Parade of Homes event. The ìDiscover the Pondsî concert is scheduled for Sunday, April 13 at 6:30 p.m. The public is encouraged to bring lawn chairs and picnic at the free outdoor pops concert.

Ongoing throughout the week will be the home tour.

Guests will be invited to stroll the property and tour eight luxurious neighborhood homes as well as the recently restored 19th-century historic farmhouse. Each property on the tour will include works of local artists and artisans, featuring authentic Lowcountry art blended with furnishings and vignettes to delight guests, leaving them with an authentic feeling of daily life at The Ponds.

The tour will be open to the public from noon ñ 6 p.m., Tuesday through Friday; 10 a.m. ñ 6 p.m. on Saturdays; 1 p.m. ñ 6 p.m. on Sundays; and closed on Mondays.  Tickets are available for purchase each morning of the tour at a cost of $10/person.  Children under 12 will be admitted for free.  

A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit "Carolís Home," a charity founded by the CTHBA to fund and build a handicap-accessible house for Carol Armstrong, a local woman who endured a brutal attack four years ago that left her nearly blind and bound to a wheelchair for life.

Home at The Ponds have started construction and prices start in the low $300,000s. A limited number of custom home sites are still available and price from the low $100,000s.

The Ponds, the countyís largest master planned community to date, is located on Highway 17-A near the intersection with Dorchester Road.
