Baseball clinic

Summerville Little League will host a Baseball Clinic Saturday, March 8 from 10 a.m. to noon at the West Boundary Street Fields. Summerville's High School coach Burt Bazzle and Summerville High School players will conduct the clinic, which costs $5 per player and is open to all players age 6-16.  Registration will start at 9:30 a.m. March 8. Tournament deadline

The Summerville Police Department and the Tri-County Lodge #3 of the Fraternal Order of Police are sponsoring their annual Fallen Officers Memorial Golf Tournament, which will begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start March 17 at Pine Forest Country Club.

The captainís choice tournament costs $60 per player or $240 per foursome team. In addition to numerous raffles and giveaways, there will be prizes for closest to the pin and longest drive. Proceeds from the tournament will be shared equally between the Summerville Police Cadets and the Tri-County FOP #3 Distressed Officer fund. The entry deadline is March 10. Superstars Camp

Registration is currently being accepted for the Superstars Basketball Camp to be held at Fort Dorchester High School June 9-13 and June 16-20. Camp for players age 9-14 will be conducteed from 9 a.m. until noon and camp for high school age players will be from 1-4 p.m. The registration fee is $75 for one week or $140 for two weeks and includes a T-shirt and basketball. Y registration

The Summerville Family YMCA is having registration for its kickball, baseball and T-ball programs. Spring Co-Ed Kickball: Registration is Feb. 25 - March 24; coaches meeting is March 25 at 7:30 p.m.; season runs April 14 - May 23; fees are $35 family member, $50 nonmember and $375/team. Youth Spring Baseball/T-ball (age 4-12): Registration is Feb. 11-March 24; coaches meeting is March 25; season runs April 19-June 14; fees are $35 FM, $50 YM, $75 NM.

Team Lowcountry

Team Lowcountry baseball club has openings for players interested in USSSA, AAU and Fletcher baseball tournaments for 9U, 10U, 11U, 13U and 14U teams. Player evaluations will continue for the 9U through 11U teams through the end of February.  The 9U, 10U, 14U and 15U teams have all already qualified for the Fletcher World Series to be played this summer and all are looking to add players to their active rosters. Youth track

Registration is open for Summerville Storm youth track and field. The registration fee for kids of all ages is $60. To register send a check and a copy of the athleteís birth certificate along with a registration form to: Summerville Running Club, SRC Registrar, 200 Downing Circle, Summerville, SC 29485. Basketball camp

Registration is now open for Ten Star All-star Summer Basketball Camp programs to be held in 10 different states. The camp is by invitation only. Boys and Girls age 10-19 are eligible to apply. Past participants include:  Michael Jordan, Tim Duncan, Vince Carter, Jerry Stackhouse, Grant Hill and Antawn Jamison. Players from 50 States and 10 foreign countries attended the 2007 Camp. Summer roundball camp

Final registration is ongoing for the 30th annual Bryan Adrian Summer Basketball Camp. Boys and girls age 5-18 are eligible. Overnight camps are scheduled for July 20-24 at N.C. Wesleyan College and Mars Hill College. Day camps are scheduled from July 21-25 at St. AnníS Catholic School in Charlotte, N.C. Officials needed

The South Carolina High School Football Association is looking for applicants who have an interest in officiating football in the Lowcountry. John  Peek, director of officials, said, "We have two new schools that will begin playing in 2008 and with a few retirements from our group this winter, we have a shortage of officials. We will begin training in May for our 2008 season and if you love the game of football, this is one way that you can participate and actually get paid a little to go to a game."
