A free festival open to the community will showcase international food & art
The Colleton County Arts Council and the Lowcountry International Society will host the first annual International Food & Art Festival in the city parking lot in downtown Walterboro, SC on East Washington Street from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. n Oct. 29.
This is a family-friendly event free and open to the public.
The purpose of the festival is to provide Walterboro and surrounding communities with an easily accessible opportunity to experience food, art & entertainment with an international theme and to celebrate October as National Arts & Culture Month as declared by President Obama. The festival will bring in food vendors specializing in a variety of food from around the world, lowcountry artists and artisans and entertainment by several different performers include the traditional Japanese drumming group Taiko from Charleston, SC and Ujimaa, an African dance group from South Carolina State University from Orangeburg, SC.
The Colleton County Arts Council is currently celebrating its 19th year as the local arts agency for Colleton County. Our mission is to promote appreciation of the arts by educating, exposing & inspiring the people in our community. The Lowcountry International Society is a new nonprofit organization in the community that serves to promote culture and introduce the lowcountry communities to different traditions and cultures from around the world.
