A motorcycle hit the side of a pick-up truck on Dorchester Road Tuesday killing the driver of the motorcycle and his passenger, the Highway Patrol said.

The driver, 20-year-old Barry L. Love, and his passenger, 19-year-old Nicole Lynn Stockdale, both of Summerville, were pronounced dead at the scene, said Dorchester County Coroner Chris Nisbet.

Love and Stockdale were not wearing helmets, Nisbet said.

The 2008 Kawasaki motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Dorchester Road around 4:40 p.m. when it struck the side of a 1997 Chevy pick-up truck driven by Berdina Cox, 51, of Summerville, said Lance Cpl. Bob Beres of the Highway Patrol.

Cox was pulling onto Dorchester Road from Tyvola Road when she failed to yield the right-of-way, Beres said.

Cox, who was wearing her seatbelt, was transported by EMS to Summerville Medical Center, Beres said. She had no known injuries on the scene, Nisbet said.

No one has been cited for the wreck and the investigation is ongoing, Beres said.
