Starting next month, Fetter Health Care Network’s OB-GYN, Larry Wilson, MD, will be moving with his team from downtown Charleston to the organization’s Summerville facility, the Thaddeus J. Bell, MD Family Health Center.
The goal is to better serve patients in a more centralized location, according to Fetter Health Care officials. While all OB services will be consolidated at the Summerville center, Fetter Health Care's additional locations will still provide other women's health services.
“I’m confident this move will greatly benefit Fetter Health Care Network’s patients,” Wilson said in a statement. “So many of our existing OB patients are close to Summerville, and we look forward to providing the same quality care in a more convenient location."
Wilson graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in 1989 and completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology in 1993 at the Medical University of South Carolina.
Wilson became board certified by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1995 and has 25 years of private practice experience. He provides a full range of obstetrics and gynecological care.
“Our team at Fetter is excited about this transition,” said Aretha R. Jones, CEO of Fetter Health Care, in a statement. “We are thankful to be able to further serve our OB patients with the help of Dr. Wilson and his phenomenal team.”
The Summerville center opened last year and is the namesake of local Thaddeus J. Bell, a prominent practicing physician in the Charleston region and Fetter board member. Aside from OB care, the center offers many other services including a full-service, on-site pharmacy. An on-site team is also dedicated to case management and financial eligibility assistance, according to a press release.
The center also receives HHS funding and has Federal Public Health Service (PHS) deemed status with respect to certain health-related claims, including medical malpractice claims, for itself and its covered individuals. The Summerville location is also a recognized Patient-Centered Medical Home and offers translation services for patients who do not speak English.
Fetter patients can still receive general, pediatric and women’s health care at each of their permanent and seasonal locations.
