Public intoxication

On July, 28 police in Summerville responded to a call regarding an intoxicated person on Boone Hill Road. The complainant said the man was told to leave the bar several times. Police said he was seen laying on the ground and rolling around. Police said when they approached the man he was heavily intoxicated and was slurring his speech. Police said they determined the man was taking prescription medication and drinking alcohol. The man was arrested for public intoxication and taken to the Dorchester County Detention Center.


Police in Summerville responded to an armed robbery at the Circle K on N. Main Street. A store employee said the man was wearing dark face covering and surgical gloves and he was carrying a firearm. The worker said it may have been a former employee because he knew exactly where to go inside the store. The store manager told police he rushed into the business and went to the back and took some miscellaneous paperwork but nothing of value was stolen. Police not make an arrest at the time of the report.

Weapons charge

On July, 25 police in Summerville were doing a welfare check in the area of McGrady Drive when they spotted a juvenile who said he lived in the area but could not provide an address. After being questioned further police said they asked the juvenile if he had any weapons on him and he said he had gun in his right pants pocket. The juvenile said the found the gun in some woods near the area. Police did a check on the weapon and discovered, the 9mm pistol was stolen from Covington, GA. Police apprehended the juvenile until his legal guardians could arrive to pick him up. He was cited for unlawful carrying of a pistol and possession of a stolen handgun.

Drugs and shoplifting

On July, 26, police in Summerville approached a man in a car that was illegally parked. Police said the man he was waiting for his wife to come out of the store. Police said they noticed a glass pipe in the center console of the car that was resting next to a butane torch. Police said they then wanted to search the vehicle. The incident report states that the man’s girlfriend then exited the store she told police she was looking for sheets but they were too expensive. Police said the woman became emotional when asked if she was committing a crime in the store. Police said they later discovered the woman was hiding several pieces of clothing in her crotch area with store tags still on them. The boyfriend was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and the female was cited for shoplifting.
