A 100th birthday celebration was given in honor of John A. Means on Dec. 8, 2018 at the Dorchester Presbyterian Church in Summerville.
Means was born Dec. 11, 1918 on a farm in McLouth, Kansas. Upon graduating from high school, he joined the Army Air Corp and became a pilot. He served in the Air Force as a pilot for 25 years and retired as a Lt. Colonel from Charleston Air Force Base in 1965. He is a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam War.
