First Capital Bank (FCB) officially rang in its 234 N. Main Street site with a well-attended outdoor ribbon-cutting on April 20 that saw company reps celebrate the financial institution's down-home image in the Lowcountry.

FCB President Joseph Kassim shared the bank's recent success in relocating its Summerville headquarters from 227-A S. Cedar St. to now occupying a standalone site on the N. Main strip and further highlighted the business' growth.

"When we opened that branch in Summerville, we were at about $100 million in size. Three-and-a-half years later, we're $650 million in size, and we are soon to be — I think we are today — the largest bank headquartered in the Tri-County area. So, that's just kind of a testament to our people," observed Kassim.

The bank executive went on to share that FCB isn't your run-of-the-mill Wall Street bank in that its employees live, work and play in the community they serve.

Kassim further explained that FCB's hallmarks are service and speed, without subjecting its customer base to 1-800 numbers.

"We actually like to talk to people. We don't have drive-throughs, so we're a little different. We like our customers to come in and talk to us. We don't even have ATMs," he continued while adding that customers who are charged with ATM fees to deposit or withdraw funds from their FCB account can have their surcharges refunded.

"Even in Las Vegas, where it's $80 for the ATM — we even refund those," he quipped.

Following Kassim in addressing the crowd of colleagues and community members was FCB's Senior Vice President/Summerville Marketing President Jeffrey C. Fleming, who spoke of his expertise in facilitating every size of loan and assured that as a newer employee, he's ready, willing and able to do business in this town and for this town.
