SOCIAL SCENE: 2019 Sweet Tea Festival

Up to 10,000 were estimated to have attended the eighth annual Sweet Tea Festival on Saturday, the third day of the festival organized by Summerville D.R.E.A.M.
Extending the festival from one day into a three day event really paid off, according to D.R.E.A.M. Executive Director Steven Doniger. Attendance doubled from last year’s estimated 3,000 to 4,000.
For the second year in a row Thee Matriarch Bed & Breakfast Rachelle’s Island Tea won.
People’s Choice while This Little Piggy BBQ took Judges choice in the sweet tea tasting competition.

Summerville’s 9th Annual Sweet Tea Festival has been reinvented into a week-long series of “micro events.”
Scaling down the most popular attractions of the annual festival allows organizers to ensure that participants are able to meet safety guidelines; including social distancing, wearing masks, and washing hands, as cases of COVID-19 are on the rise.
