Grimes breaks school record

Daniel Grimes set a Pinewood Prep Swimming record for the 100 Backstroke.

The Pinewood Swim Team traveled to Spartanburg Sept. 22 to compete in the Oakbrook Invitational. The Girls’ team placed fourth and the Boys’ team placed fifth for a combined fourth-place overall finish for the Panthers.

Senior Daniel Grimes broke the Pinewood Swim Team 100 Backstroke record that has stood since 2002 with a first-place time of 58.51. Grimes also won the 50 Free with a time of 22.14.

In the Girl’s 100 Back, Brea Fields won with a time of 1:07.85. She also placed second in the Girl’s 200 Free with a time of 2:20.65.

In the Boy’s 200 Free Relay, the Pinewood A team comprised of swimmers Connor Ruddy, Connor Kocian, Jared Snell and Grimes placed third.
