Jordan Wright has been a major contributor for the Patriots this season.

The Fort Dorchester boys avenged a loss Tuesday, Feb. 6, and improved its playoff seeding.

The Patriots earned a 65-63 victory at West Ashley to finish their schedule with a 13-9 record with a 4-4 mark in Region 7-5A. The win moved Fort Dorchester into third place and ahead of Ashley Ridge (13-13, 3-5) in the region standings. West Ashley (17-9, 5-3) finishes second, and Summerville (22-2, 8-0) is the Region 7 champion.

The Patriots will travel to the Region 5 runner-up Wednesday, Feb. 14, for the first round of the playoffs. West Ashley will host the No. 3 seed from Region 5 in the first round.

Fort Dorchester had a better shooting night during the rematch than on Jan. 19, when it lost 49-42 to West Ashley in the first game between the teams. The Patriots hit only 12 of 55 field goal attempts in the first game but were 27 of 55 in the second. The Fort had two players post double-digit scoring in the first game, and three did so in the second.

Senior Khayri Beyah finished with a game-high 17 points. Sophomore Jordan Wright added 15 points for the Patriots, while senior Cazz Williams added 12. Maricious Dawson and Bryan Bright both finished with six points. Williams and Bright led the Fort on the boards, grabbing five rebounds each. Beyah and Wright both had three rebounds.

West Ashley had two players in double figures. Sophomore Damani White and junior Lavelle Minus both scored 16 points. Minus also led the Wildcats in rebounds with five.

Fort Dorchester is riding a three-game winning streak going into the playoffs.

Lady Patriots

The Fort Dorchester girls won their final two region games to improve to 12-11 with a 3-5 mark in the region. The Lady Patriots also finished third in the region. They will travel Tuesday, Feb. 13, to the Region 5 runner-up for the first round.

Fort Dorchester defeated West Ashley 39-32 Tuesday, Feb. 6, to close their schedule. The Lady Patriots also defeated Stall 45-35 Feb. 2.
