Summerville High School senior Rebecca Yohe is the sixth annual Best of Prep Sports Service Award recipient.

Yohe has been known as a heavy hitter for the Green Wave Volleyball team for some time, but her impact extends beyond the team. She is a key member of her travel club team and is active in community service work.

Yohe serves as a youth mentor and general volunteer for events sponsored by her teams. During her time at SHS she has volunteered for all Green Wave camps and clinics.

Every spring she volunteers at Devon Forest Elementary School’s field day. Last month, she volunteered for the Berkeley County Special Olympics event.

While balancing practice and games with her training, traveling and volunteer work, she has managed to maintain a 4.2 or better GPA and land a volleyball scholarship with Erskine College.

Yohe made the Green Wave junior varsity team as a seventh-grader and is a four-time varsity letterman for Summerville. This is her third straight year being named all-state and all-region. She was also named the 2022 Region 7-AAAAA Volleyball Player of the Year and is a past recipient of the Best of Prep Sports Volleyball Player of the Year Award.

“Rebecca has been such a difference maker in our program,” Summerville coach Rachel Page said. “Right in front of our eyes she grew into the powerful outside hitter she is today. She has worked very hard to be consistent on the court. She is always smiling but underneath that smile is a fierce competitor who usually celebrates her teammates’ wins more than her own.”

During her senior season, Yohe led Summerville in kills with 199. She was second on the team for digs with 138 and third in service aces with 39.
