DCSO: Oakbrook Middle teacher charged with sexual misconduct with student

Chilton

An Oakbrook Middle School teacher and basketball coach is no longer employed by Dorchester District Two following accusations of having an inappropriate relationship with a student.

Dorchester District Two issued a statement Thursday saying Allison Leigh Chilton is no longer employed by the district, effective Jan. 11.

Chilton, a 27-year-old Manning resident, was arrested Tuesday and charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor, third-degree, commit/attempt lewd act, and criminal solicitation of a minor, according to arrest warrants.

The warrant stated that between Aug. 1 and Dec. 29, Chilton committed "a lewd or lascivious act on" the victim, age 12. The suspect is accused of kissing and fondling the female student, and during that same time period texting with her about having a sexual relationship, according to the warrant.

Both suspect and victim admitted to the kissing and texting, deputies said in the warrant.

Dorchester County Sheriff's deputies said the victim's father eventually found out about the relationship and filed a report with the sheriff's office on Jan. 2. He told deputies since last year he had suspected a relationship going on between his daughter and the teacher, according to the report. Chilton was the juvenile's teacher last year and this year is her basketball coach, the father reported.

Chilton was released from jail on a $30,000 bond, according to sheriff's officials.
