Summerville Swig and Swine restaurant engulfed by flames

At 1:38 a.m. Friday, Dorchester County Fire Rescue received an alarm for a structure fire at Swig & Swine restaurant, near Summerville.

No injuries were reported. 

Crews arrived on scene within minutes and found the structure 25 percent involved with smoke and fire conditions coming from the cooking area/smoke room of the structure.

Twenty-three fire rescue personnel from the county and Summerville Fire Rescue responded and had the fire under control in 20 minutes.

It was a seamless operation and is evident of the continued success of the Automatic Aid Agreement between DCFR and SFR," said Dorchester County Fire Chief, Tres Atkinson said. "Both departments are to be commended for their teamwork and continued commitment to providing the highest quality of fire service.”

The Dorchester County Sherriff’s Office and EMS also responded to the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
