Ashley Ridge, Fort Dorchester and Summerville all landed three players on the 2019 Region 8-AAAAA Softball All-region Team.
After helping Ashley Ridge to a clean sweep of its region opponents, senior pitcher Katie Freeman has been named the Region Softball Player of the Year. After helping Fort Dorchester to a second-place finish, Fort Dorchester’s Lindsey LaPrad has been named the Region Softball Coach of the Year.
Joining Freeman on the all-region team are Swamp Fox athletes Maddie Ingram and Hailey Patterson.
Fort Dorchester is represented by Faith Jones, Merryl Dolbeck and Bricelin Balcer. Summerville players receiving all-region honors are Mikayla Goodwin, Hailey Hill and Zoey Frasier. Others making the team are West Ashley’s Kinleigh Mines and Karissa Johnson and Stall’s Jessica Haynes.
This season, Ashley Ridge made it all the way to the Lower State finals of the playoffs before being eliminated by eventual state champion Lexington. Fort Dorchester was eliminated in the district round of the playoffs with a loss to Goose Creek. Summerville also fell in the district playoffs, to White Knoll.
