With a new list of future inductees complete, the Summerville High School Athletic Hall of Fame is preparing for its 2019 fundraiser.
The list of people who have been selected for induction into the hall as the Class of 2019 was released last month. The induction class includes Stacee Roberts (Track and Field), Haley Chura (Cross Country, Swimming and Track), Tony Simmons (Wrestling and Football), Bryant Blanton (Wrestling and Football), Ryan Castle (Golf), Ron Brady (Boys Soccer Coach) and Bob Crowley (Cross Country and Track Coach).
The Summerville High School Athletic Hall of Fame seeks to honor and recognize individuals who excelled as athletes, coaches or support persons for Green Wave Athletics. Honorees receive a plaque at the Hall of Fame induction ceremony in the fall and are recognized in a designated area near the main gym at SHS.
To cover the costs of a banquet and plaques, the Hall of Fame Committee hosts an annual golf tournament at Summerville Country Club. This year’s tournament is scheduled for July 18 with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
The committee is currently registering golfers for the tournament as well as sponsors and patron supporters. Registration and more information is available through the summervilleathletics.com website. This year, golfers, hole sponsors and patron supporters are invited to a complimentary tour of SHS, including the new CATE facilities, at 4 p.m. July 17.
The induction ceremony/banquet is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Oct. 11 in the Spann Elementary School cafeteria. The Class of 2019 inductees will also be recognized during halftime of the Summerville football game against Stall later that evening at Memorial Stadium.
