Summerville Country Club hosted 114 golfers July 15 for the Charleston Area Men’s Interclub Golf Association’s latest outing.

Golfers representing the Berkeley Country Club, Charleston Municipal, Charleston National, Coosaw Creek, Crowfield Golf Club, Dunes West, Legend Oaks, The Club at Pine Forest, RiverTowne, Shadowmoss, Summerville Country Club and Wescott golf courses participate in the association’s monthly golf matches and in doing so help local charities.

In addition to hosting friendly yet competitive men’s golf tournaments, the association collects golf merchandise to give to PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) participants. PGA HOPE, which is the flagship military engagement program of PGA Reach, is a free, adaptive program that introduces golf to Veterans with disabilities to enhance their physical, mental, social and emotional well-being.

Each year the association also supports other charities. A portion of goods and donations collected at Summerville Country Club through its Interclub fundraiser will be presented to the Fisher House of Charleston, which serves Veteran families in 22 coastal counties.
