The 2019 North Charleston Dixie Softball Angels (10U) Traditional All-Stars wrapped up the most successful season in program history last week.

The team suffered its second loss of the Dixie Softball Angels Traditional Tournament in Moncks Corner to be eliminated from contention for a state championship. However, North Charleston finishes the season as the champion for its district, which is something on other North Charleston Angels team has managed to do.

North Charleston defeated Goose Creek 13-5 in the district championship game June 27 to capture the district title. Many members of the team are in their first season playing at the Angels level but the North Charleston squad held its own against more experienced teams.

“We far exceeded what others thought we could accomplish,” team manager Joe Brinson said. “These girls have made history.”

While the team wasn’t able to claim a state championship, its members did gain valuable experience while generating interest for the program.

“The amount of support these girls have is amazing,” Brinson said. “The City of North Charleston and Mayor Keith Summey have been so great to each of the girls. We also couldn’t have done it without our coaches and parents being completely involved in every aspect of the team. They came up short this season but, we will be back stronger than ever.”
