The Fort Dorchester Girls Basketball team opened the Class AAAAA playoffs with a home victory.
The Patriots improved their record to 21-3 Feb. 12 with a 50-35 win over Berkeley.
“We played all right, but there are some things we need to fix defensively,” Fort Dorchester coach Cez Champagne said. “We are happy we are advancing to the second round, but there are things we need to work on so we will try to fix them Wednesday and Thursday.”
Sophomore Aujea Bowman led the charge, posting a game-high 26 points. The Patriots pulled out to a nine-point lead in the first quarter and extended it to 13 points entering the half.
LeeToria Dorsey led Berkeley with 15 points. The Stags were eliminated with the loss.
Fort Dorchester will host the winner of Tuesday’s Carolina Forest/White Knoll game at 7 p.m. Feb. 15 during the second round.
In other playoff action, the Summerville Girls were eliminated with a 30-25 loss at Wando.
