Summerville will be a hotspot for preseason basketball this month.
Coaches for the Summerville Girls Basketball Team are preparing for the 2019-20 season and are optimistic about the outlook. The Lady Green Wave stands to return several players from a team that showed signs of improvement throughout last season.
“I feel very good about all the players I have returning,” Summerville coach Calvin Davis said. “If we find a true leader we could be special on and off the court. We have players that can play multiple positions and that gives us a fighting chance.”
The Lady Green Wave will host Irmo for a scrimmage at 6 p.m. Nov. 18. Irmo has put together some tough teams over the years so the contest should be action packed and prepare Summerville for the rest of its preseason activities.
The Summerville Green Wave Jamboree tips off at 2 p.m. Nov. 23 at Summerville High School’s main gym. The preseason tournament will feature 12 girls’ basketball teams.
Summerville will wrap its month up by hosting the annual Theresa Kendle Thanksgiving Classic Nov. 29 through Dec. 1 in the main gym. This tournament will feature eight girls’ teams as well as eight boys’ teams.
