The Patriots Football Team shutout its first Region 8-AAAAA opponent of the season.
Fort Dorchester defeated West Ashley 28-0 Oct. 4 in the region opener for both teams. It is the third shutout for the Patriots this year.
Senior running back Kalil Jenkins led the way, rushing for 134 yards on 12 carries. Quarterback De’Andrae Sabb added 56 rushing yards and found the end zone on two runs.
Junior Dwayne Wright contributed 51 rushing yards and a TD on 10 carries and QB Zolten Osborne rushed for 12 yards and a TD.
The Patriots, which have moved the ball well through the air and on the ground this season, only completed 5 of 16 pass attempts for 54 yards.
Fort Dorchester improved to 6-0 on the season while West Ashley dropped to 1-5. The Patriots have a bye this week and will return to action at 7:30 p.m.
Oct. 18 when they host Stall. Fort Dorchester will host Ashley Ridge Oct. 25 and then close out its schedule on the road when it plays at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 1 at Summerville. The Green Wave also opened region play with a win Friday, defeating Ashley Ridge 42-31.
Stall travels to Summerville this Friday. The Warriors are coming off their first win of the season, a 43-26 win over Burke. The Warriors’ losses this season are to Berkeley, Stratford, James Island, Goose Creek and Cane Bay.
