Frank named Girls Track Athlete of the Year

Angel Frank

Summerville junior Angel Frank seems to be hitting her stride at the right time.

Frank had good times last season so her aspirations were high this spring. Things have progressed well for the runner, who is on track to have a very strong showing at this year’s state championships and is the Summerville Communications Girls Track Athlete of the Year.

At the Bojangles Track Classic April 13-14, which featured a large and talented field, Frank claimed the championship in the 400 Meter Dash with a 56.33 time that is a personal best for Frank and broke the SHS record for the event.

At the Tri-county Meet of Champions April 18, she won the 400 with a 57.11 time and placed third in the 200 with a 25.56 time. She also helped the Green Wave 4x400 relay team to a first-place finish.

At the 2018 Azalea Invitational March 10, Frank placed first in the Girls 400 with a 57.67 time.

At the Coaches Classic March 4, she won the 400 with a 56.81 time.

At 2017 state meet, Frank placed second in the 400 with a 57.55 finish and placed eighth in the 200 with a 25.60 time. She also ran a leg for the Summerville 4x100 Relay and 4x400 Relay teams, which both placed second.
