Fort Dorchester cross country athlete Wyatt Hall stepped up when the pressure was intense.
Hall, who is the Summerville Communications Boys Cross Country Athlete of the Year, turned in some of his top performances during the season’s most important meets.
During the South Carolina Class AAAAA Cross Country Championships, the Patriot junior finished the boys’ race with a 16:10 time to place sixth individually, which earned him All-state honors. Only one other Region 7-AAAAA runner placed ahead of Hall.
At the 2017 Lower State meet, Hall had a 15:50.47 finish to place second and set a new Fort Dorchester record for a 5K course. His time broke the old school record of 15:56 set by Drew Buehring in 2011.
Hall also placed second at the region championship meet and for the Boys 5,000-meter Run of the Bodyshop Invitational meet in Lexington. Hall has earned multiple all-region honors during his high-school career.
He is also a distance runner for the Patriot Track and Field team. At the 2017 South Carolina Class AAAAA State Track and Field Championships, Hall joined forces with Ian Fladd, Justin Williams, Cameron Hornsby and Josh White on the Fort Dorchester 4x800 Relay team that placed sixth with an 8:23.31 time.
