It’s once again time for the Lowcountry to come out and support The Ark Alzheimer’s Family Support Services.
The annual Race for the Ark event is only days away. Each summer for the past 20 years the event has offered a unique and easy way to support the services The Ark provides those living with Alzheimer’s or related dementia and the caregivers providing for them.
“We are eager to welcome participants, spectators, and volunteers from all across the Charleston area,” Peg Lahmeyer, executive director of The ARK, said. “Not only do we have so much continuing community support year after year for the Race For The ARK, but it is such a fun and exciting event for participants and families with the 5K run/walk as well as the 1-mile fun run.”
Sponsored by Thrivent Financial, the 2019 Race for The Ark is scheduled for Aug. 24 with the 5K race set to start at 7:45 a.m. and the 1-mile fun run set to start at 8:45 a.m. This year, each 5K participant will receive a commemorative medallion when they cross the finish line. The ARK is also planning to have additional activities for everyone to enjoy after the race to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the race.
Registration for the 5K run/walk is $35 with a T-shirt and $25 without a T-Shirt. Register for the 1-mile fun run for $10 or $30 for a family of four (t-shirts are not included with the fun run registration).
Online registration is available at https://raceroster.com/events/2019/23213/race-for-the-ark through 6 p.m. Aug. 22. Onsite registration after that deadline will cost $40 with or without a T-shirt and will be available 12-6 p.m. Aug. 23 and 6:30-7:30 a.m. Aug. 24 at St. Luke’s Church Fellowship Hall.
